SUMMARY
To research, develop, supervise and analyze the sales activities of the hotel. To sell the hotel’s facilities, services, and staff in accordance with strategic objectives and selective selling guidelines in place to meet market driven hotel revenue components. Utilizes the principles, policies and standards as a foundation for all actions. The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
 
·        Present a pleasant professional image to all potential guests and clients
  • Weekly telephone research professionally qualifying all local and regional outside sales calls. Appointments should be made where possible and specific information obtained prior to actual call. This also applies to potential cold calls (non-appointment and scheduled). Responsible decision-makers name and potential annual sleeping rooms/hotel revenue should be obtained prior to the actual call. Friday’s or non- “direct selling” times are suggested for this duty.
  • Aggressively pursue all appropriate opportunities for outside customer solicitation and relationship building including: Outside Sales Calls, Civic Association Events, Trade Events, Industry Vendor Relationships, etc. Out of town solicitation is also to be made when requested (3-5 day trips)
  • Develop and maintain an “active and inactive” file depicting all outside sales call activity
  • Upon request of clients and in the absence of appropriate designated sales colleagues, book overnight accommodations for all group types. Upon return of appropriate sales colleagues communicate clearly all transactions made.
  • Correspond with potential customers providing any requested information concerning bids, proposals, confirmation of bookings, thank you letters, follow-up letters, etc. In conjunction with inter office colleagues; maintain accurate and up to date records of sales department functions and transactions.
  • Conduct hotel tours and entertain qualified potential clients in accordance with the company property policies.
·        Review daily results of all activities completed by Sales Managers
  • Define specific individual territories and market segment for self and all Sales Managers
  • Implement primary tactics for assigned market segments
  • Assist and supervise Sales Manager with primary tactics for their assigned market segments
·        Assist the General Manager in the research and development of annual business or marketing plans/strategic plans.
  • Submit requires monthly/quarterly/annual reports to the General Manager and Rim Hospitality office.
  • Local community involvement as it benefits the hotel, via approved memberships in organizations.
  • Adhere to time and attendance policy as established.
  • Contribute and work as a “team” member in all facets of the position.
  • Perform other services and duties as requested by the General Manager. May be called upon to host functions and participate in, or conduct sales blitzes, travel and work extended hours to achieve departmental goals.
 
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises 1-5 colleagues in the Sales Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training colleagues; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining colleagues; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION                                    
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent from a four year college or technical school; or 4 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of experience and education.
 
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, guests and the general public.
 
 
 MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions.
 
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
