SUMMARY:
Manages hotel to ensure efficient and profitable operation by performing the following duties personally or through department supervisors. The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. Management may assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time due to reasonable accommodation or other reasons
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
· Participates in Operating and capital Expenditure budgeting
· Oversee general operation of the hotel when GM is not present
· Set the tone and example of guest service and guest satisfaction for all colleagues
· Has specific responsibility for overseeing the Front Desk, Bellman, Valet, and Door Person. Checks the daily duties.
· Has direct responsibilities of hiring and training the Front Desk
· Has specific responsibility for maintaining and updating travel publications
· Does daily check of the previous day’s work, i.e. posting deposits, cashiers reports, and petty cash receipts, when with a FD Supervisor and/or FD Manager is not available.
· Oversee performance of POS software and updates
· Acts as liaison with the Home Office concerning personnel, payroll and insurance issues.
· Handles guest insurance claims in reporting them to the carrier and Home Office on a timely basis. Review and notifies Risk Manager of all costs associated with the claim.
· Has overall responsibility for all accounting and computer procedures at the Front Desk.
· Checks, approves and codes invoices and follows guidelines as per Accounting procedures.
· Maintain and oversee purchase of office supplies and hotel material.
· Oversee liquor inventories.
· Serves on Safety Committee.
· Train Front Desk personnel in safety procedures.
· Meet with the Ex. Housekeeper to discuss issues and concerns involving guest rooms.
· Meet weekly with the GM to discuss projects, progress, and problems.
· Actively participates in the management of other departments in the hotel.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages individual department supervisors that are responsible for the daily operations and profitability of the hotel. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of these departments. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training colleagues, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining colleagues, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:
Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from guests, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write communication for presentations regarding the hotel and services available. Ability to present information to senior management or public groups.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of math. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
