Safe work practices result in a healthy workforce. Rim provides colleagues with the education and training to do their jobs in a safe and effective manner. Our Injury Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) contains department specific training covering topics such as fire safety, emergency evacuation, guest incidents, and lock out tag out to equip our colleagues with best practices in regards to safety. Our “Pride by Performance” education and incentive program, mirrors that of the National Safety Council's program. Each hotel is charged with forming a Safety Committee, which includes representatives from each department. This committee ensures that monthly site inspections occur, issues are addressed, the monthly topic is communicated to their department, and that safe and sound work practices occur.
The implementation of our RimSafe program in 2004 has resulted in a significant decrease in our workers-comp insurance premiums. The RimSafe program encourages strong working relationships with local facilities at the property level, gets colleagues back to work as soon as medically possible and creates awareness to avoid accidents in the first place. All claims are administered in conjunction with the hotel and that carrier to ensure that claims are handled appropriately and economically.
